The Merkel Youth Cheer Squads support our Youth Football teams in all League games. Currently we have a cheer squad for each cooresponding football age groups; Flag, Mitey-Mites, Junior PeeWee, and PeeWee. Yearly registration is open to anyone that lives or attends the Merkel Independent School District which reside in the cities of Merkel or Tye, Texas.
COMING SOON! We are working with other Youth Sports Associations and our home Merkel Indepentent School District, in hopes that our cheer squads can participate in other area youth sporting events year around.
Flag Cheerleading
Flag cheer is open to Pre-Kindergarten through Kindergarten. Cheerleaders will begin to learn the basic fundementals of cheer, formations, and beginner stunts. Cheerleaders will also get to perform beginner cheer routines.

Mitey-Mites Cheerleading
Mitey-Mite cheer is open to 1st and 2nd Graders. Cheerleaders will continue to learn the basic fundementals of cheer, formations, and beginner/intermediate stunts. Cheerleaders will also get to perform beginner and learn some intermediate cheer routines.

Junior PeeWee Cheerleading
Junior PeeWee cheer is open to 3rd and 4th Graders. Cheerleaders will continue to focus on the basic fundementals of cheer, while also learning more advanced formations. Beginner, intermediate, and some advanced stunts. Cheerleaders will also learn to perform intermediate and advanced cheer routines.

PeeWee Cheerleading
PeeWee cheer is open to 5th and 6th Graders. Cheerleaders will continue to focus on the basic fundementals of cheer, while also learning more advanced formations. Beginner, intermediate, and some advanced stunts. Cheerleaders will also learn to perform intermediate and advanced cheer routines.
